Last Monday was our final Coach ’Em Up Morning Meeting of the year. 💙 We gathered in the lobby one last time to share announcements, recite our pledge together, reflect on life lessons about being good students and even better human beings, and, of course, proudly sing our school song together.
A special thank you goes to Maggie Tepen and Mrs. Schleeper for always stepping up to lead us. Their energy, positivity, and school spirit help create so much joy in our building. They are true cheerleaders for our students and staff, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm they bring every time. Occasionally, junior high students — and even a few teachers — will jump in and help lead as well, which always makes the moment even more special.
This time, however, Smiley stepped forward. In front of his peers, he showed tremendous courage, confidence, and school spirit by taking a leadership role in the moment. That takes real character. It is never easy to put yourself out there, especially in front of classmates, but Smiley modeled the very kind of bravery and positive attitude we hope to inspire in all our students.
What a beautiful reminder that leadership does not always come from the loudest voice — sometimes it simply comes from the willingness to step forward. 💙

How much we appreciate our seniors!
They went all in this year and turned Brussels 42 into what felt like a full-blown working farm! We had pigs, chickens, baby goats, fish swimming in water tubs, and even a big ol’ snapping turtle that made a surprise appearance. Talk about commitment to a senior prank! 😂
But honestly, the best part wasn’t just the laughs or the chaos — it was seeing how kind and caring our seniors were with all the animals. They made sure everything was handled with care, which says a lot about these kids' hearts.
We even had a few special visitors stop by to take in the excitement. 🥰 For me, this day brought a huge smile to my face. My dad was quite the prankster, so it filled my heart with joy to see such a fun, creative, and community-spirited tradition carried on so positively.

Cal picked up I Want to Be Just Me and began “reading,” already showing early literacy skills. His big brother, Cam, naturally stepped in to guide and encourage him as a teacher would. Watching them together was such a beautiful reminder of the magic of education.
This is the good stuff. ✨

This week was also dedicated to nurses, and we would be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to give a huge THANK YOU to our very own school nurse, Mrs. Sarah Schleeper! ❤️
Mrs. Schleeper does an incredible job caring for our students every day. Whether she’s handing out ice packs, calming nerves, offering encouragement, or somehow keeping everyone healthy and moving forward, she does it all with compassion, patience, and a smile.
But as many of you know, “school nurse” is only one of the many hats she wears. She’s also a listener, problem-solver, cheerleader, counselor, organizer, and apparently… a pretty convincing 90s rockstar too! 🎸
We are so grateful for the care, kindness, humor, and heart she brings to our school community every single day. We also want to give a shout-out to Mrs. Ashley Affholder, who is also an amazing caregiver for our students! So, to Mrs. Schleeper and Mrs. Affholder, thank you for everything you do in every way for students and staff.

What a way to finish senior year. The seniors went to Wacky Warriors paintball park and faced off against each other. Boys vs Girls quickly turned into mixed teams to even out the imbalance. However, the girls proved themselves several times throughout the day. Between Audrina lasting until the end in almost every round and Mady’s marksmanship skills, the girls held their own. The boys showcased their strategy and skill and took Mrs. Hartle out on several occasions. Regardless of who won or lost, the 8 seniors enjoyed their last field trip together. This was a bittersweet kind of day as these 8 seniors hold a special place at BHS. Now on to finals and graduation.

There has been so much creativity and learning happening inside the Eagle’s Nest this week! Kindergarten students had a blast tie-dyeing and showing off their colorful creations. 🌈👕 Our 5th graders put their creativity and teamwork to work while learning the art of flower arranging. 💐
We also captured some great moments from Friday afternoon’s trivia fun, filled with laughter, teamwork, and friendly competition! 🤩🧠
Meanwhile, our 4th grade students have been hard at work building relationships through STEM activities while also practicing good sportsmanship and teamwork along the way. 🔬🛠️👏 It’s always wonderful to see our students learning important life skills while having fun together.
Every day inside the Eagle’s Nest is filled with learning, laughter, creativity, and connection—and we love sharing those special moments with all of you! 💙🦅

Somehow, they keep the phones answered, the paperwork handled, the schedules straight, the bus routes organized, and every report submitted on time… all while managing the daily chaos with grace, patience, and probably a little caffeine. 😅
A HUGE thank you to Miss Yvonne and Miss Hallie for everything they do to keep our district moving and grooving in the right direction every single day. Their hard work, organization, positivity, and ability to perform miracles before lunch do not go unnoticed! Whoop! 🙌🏻
Let’s face it — without them, half of us would be late, lost, missing paperwork, and wondering why the copier is flashing mysterious error codes again. 😉

Our eight seniors had the opportunity to introduce themselves to the entire student body and share their accomplishments and accolades. Mrs. Hartle did an incredible job highlighting each student and recognizing what makes them special.
One of the most meaningful parts of the afternoon was hearing the advice our seniors shared with younger students. Their messages were simple and honest:
* Take advantage of activities and opportunities while you can.
* Get your homework done and turn it in on time.
* Have fun and enjoy the journey.
It really is that simple.
