The Sunshine Award absolutely, without a doubt, goes to Mrs. Rose! 🌟 Spending her days with kindergartners, she radiates warmth and joy in every lesson, laugh, and smile. Her teaching is infused with positivity, character, and the reminder to always do your best. She truly brightens the halls of our school—proof that sunshine isn’t just in the sky, it’s in the way you live each day. 😎 💙

Is anyone surprised? Mrs. Schleeper shines as the undeniable Spirit Queen! 👸Whether it’s breaking into the school song dance (yes, she still remembers every step!) or simply living out her passion for our school each day, she models what true spirit looks like. Fearless, fun, and full of pride, Mrs. Schleeper brings joy and energy that inspire us all. 💙 #togetherwerise #smallbutmighty

In collaboration with Team River Runner – St. Louis, Mr. Bruce was honored with the Super Human Award for going above and beyond in service to others. On a Saturday, instead of resting from his weekday bus driving duties, he chose to spend his time transporting veterans and their families so they could experience healing, community, and purpose through adaptive paddle sports and outdoor adventure. His selfless commitment shows the heart of a true hero. Thank you, Mr. Bruce, for making a difference! 💙

We are thrilled our students participated in the education portion of the Calhoun Fair where students have the chance to showcase their talents in computers, creative writing, handwriting, art, math, English, science, social studies, recycled projects, and more! With over $2,000 in prize money available, this is an amazing opportunity for our kids to shine and be rewarded for their creativity and effort. Let’s encourage every student to get involved—enter your projects, show your skills, and celebrate learning together! Congrats to Maggie and Sofie on earning some top places and prizes! 💙 #togetherwerise #smallbutmighty
Thank you to Mrs. Cindy Klocke, who facilitates this huge undertaking!

This is a 10 picture snapshot of the field trip the 6th-12th graders took yesterday to Alton. Not only did they get to tour the LST-325 ship, but we also took them to the tallest monument in Illinois, the Lovejoy Monument, and the 1858 Lincoln/Douglas debate location. We would also like to give a shout out to two former Brussels students that had ties to the LST-325. Jason Hoemmen got to pilot the ship down to our area, and Richard Goetze was one of the engineers that worked on the ship. We take great pride that two of our alumni were involved with such an amazing piece of history. Since I can only put 10 pictures on a post, there may be extra posts soon for those interested in seeing some more inside shots of the ship.

Mark your calendars for the 2025 Brussels High School Homecoming Parade. Let’s pack the streets to show these kids our support!

🌍🎨 Celebrating International Dot Day Inside the Eagle's Nest! 🎨🌍
On September 15, our students joined millions around the world in celebrating International Dot Day — a global event that encourages creativity, courage, and collaboration!
Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot, this special day reminds us all of the power of "making your mark." The story centers on a caring teacher who encourages a hesitant student to believe in herself, starting with a single dot on a page. What follows is a journey of self-discovery, confidence, and artistic expression — themes that resonate deeply with our school community.
With this in mind, our students explored their own creativity through a variety of fun and thoughtful projects. From colorful dots to imaginative designs, each creation was a unique expression of bravery and individuality. 💫🖌️
It was a joyful day filled with learning, laughter, and inspiration — a perfect reminder that a small dot can start a big journey. Thank you, Mrs. Michele for exposing our students to this special day!✨
