This message is for all high school boys and girls at Brussels or Calhoun that are interested in playing golf this season. Official practice will start this Monday, August 11th at Lockhaven Golf Course from 4:30 t0 6:30. The two links are for the schedules for matches and practices. Each student will be required to fill out a couple forms for IHSA, have an updated physical, and pay a $50 athletic fee. Please, if you have a student interested, email me at amanker@brussels42.net.

Student registrations are coming in, classrooms are coming together, floors are getting waxed, grocery orders are being delivered and things are falling into place. We are getting excited for the 25-26 school year! This is truly the stuff awesome things are made of. We are refreshed and ready to roll. Bring on the kids! Don't forget to come out to Meet the Teacher Night at BGS and bring your school supplies so you are ready for the first day. Remember, too, to stop by BJHHS to see what's new! Last night, the Calhoun High School girls volleyball team was treated to a celebration that could only be described as bling at its finest. In a sparkling ceremony, the team received their long-awaited state championship rings, capping off a season full of heart, grit, and unforgettable victories. After an electrifying season, the rings were more than just jewelry; they were a symbol of a title earned through teamwork and determination.
Fans, families, and friends cheered as the rings were handed out. This Calhoun squad has earned their place in the history books, and now, they have the bling to prove it.

Golf season is upon us. We have not been able to have our usual early practices due to the weather for the last week. We are going to attempt to have optional practices at Lockhaven this Wednesday, 4:30 to 6:00, and Thursday, 4:30-6:30. Wednesday will be driving range, chipping, and putting, and Thursday we will play the course. Obviously, these will also be weather dependent. These are optional this week so if you can't come, that is okay, and it is open to all high schoolers who are interested. We will start official practices the week of August 11th. If you did not play last year and are interested this year, please have a parent email me, amanker@brussels42.net, with their contact information so we can add them to the group text, remind, and chat.

If your student plans to play a junior high or high school sport at Calhoun during the 25/26 school year, parent meetings for the Extra-Curricular Code are scheduled at Calhoun High school, in the AV Room on the following dates:
July 29 @ 6pm
Aug. 11 @ 6pm

Our amazing local painting crew (huge shoutout to Denny, Wayne, and crew!) is giving the high school a beautiful facelift. Meanwhile, little ones, teachers, staff, and custodians are teaming up to move furniture—big smiles, little muscles, and lots of teamwork. 🌟
Then, when you need it, the Nolte family rolls in with a truck to help haul the big stuff, and you spot familiar, friendly faces at lunch. This is what community looks like. This is the good stuff. 💙

GRADUATION SEASON!
Friday marked another year in the books at Brussels CUSD 42. This year we graduated five kindergarten students, seven eighth grade students and eight senior students. Each year as the school year closes I wonder where it went. It seems like yesterday was just August and now we are closing the book on another year. Congratulations to the classes of 2025! We are blessed to have mentored and taught you. We can't wait to see what's in store for you! Congratulations!
Junior High went on their end of the year field trip to Altitude Trampoline Park. These students are ready to JUMP into summer!
K-6 enjoyed an end of the year trip to Grant's Farm. Two of own very own students even got to act as a race track for rats during the show!

The Brussels High School kids took over the STL Zoo today for their annual end of the year field trip. They enjoyed seeing several animals including the new baby elephant. So much fun was packed into the day. What a way to end the year. Now it’s time to prepare for final exams!
PROM NIGHT IS HERE! My heart is so happy for them. I am so incredibly excited for these kids. They look so nice! Congrats to Abby Johnes and Ryan Hagen, our Queen and King.
