BHS was all about the Trades in the month of April! We were lucky enough to have Nathan and Guy from Laborer 660 come talk to our students about what a career with them would look like on April 19th. Then on April 25th students that were interested were able to attend the Build My Future STL hands on trades expo. During this event our students got the opportunity to mingle with people within the trades business and also try out their own skills!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
Thank you to all of our amazing teachers for everything that you do! We love and appreciate each and every one of you! <3

Good Morning!
Heather will be driving her route this afternoon, 05/06/24, so all children that usually ride her route will be getting home at regular times this afternoon. Thank you for your patience and your understanding!

Happy Staff Appreciation Week!
Let's hear it for all of our lovely staff! We would like to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication that they bring each and every day! Thank you so much for all you do!!

On Monday, May 6th, 2024, there is a possibility that Bruce will be driving both his and Heather's afternoon route. If that is the case, he will drive his normal route and then continue with Heather's route. In that case, all children that normally ride Heather's bus will be getting home later. We ask that any parents that are able, to please make other arrangements for that afternoon. We will have a confirmation on Monday, May 6th, by 9 am, if Bruce will be driving both afternoon routes. We apologize for the inconvenience.

SCIENCE FAIR NIGHT
We would like to congratulate our two first place winners from the Science Fair this year. Jordan Hartle did her experiment on designing different shaped satellites to collect stardust. As Carl Sagan once said, "we're all made of star stuff". Jordan has an amazing love for space and we could use some more Carl's in the world. Alessa Ray dabbled in the world of biochemistry and tested different substances on cut apples to see if some would ripen faster than others. Turns out, citrus is your answer to keep your apples from turning brown. Alessa has such a love for science, and she is excited at the beginning of the school year about doing science experiments and the science fair. Keep up that enthusiasm Alessa. A special thanks to all the parents and staff that helped this year!

Last night we honored 3 of Brussels High School’s finest. Cheyenne Brundies, Delani Klaas and Gracie Klaas all received the Silver Medallion Award. Throughout their high school careers these young ladies have been driven. Driven to do their best and be their best in all they set out to do. From academics to athletics to Girl Scouts to community service, these young ladies have put in the time and effort to produce the best product possible all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Congratulations on all your accomplishments! We wish you nothing but continued success!!!

In addition to honoring our 3 Silver Medallion recipients, we also had the privilege of honoring our very own Dr. Martin, which we have been fortunate enough to call Doc for the last 14 years. At the end of this year, Dr. Martin will be retiring after 48 years in public education spanning 4 districts in 2 states. Think about that educators 48 years…48 first days of school, 48 school picture days, 48 parent teacher conferences, 48….well you get it. Doc has definitely earned the right to retire after all his years of service and we here at Brussels are going to miss him tremendously. So, it is with great pride that we had the privilege to honor and thank him for his years of service last night. Thank you, Doc! Once a Raider, Always a Raider! Ladies and Gentlemen - Dr. Mark Martin.
