Just a little sneak peek of the BHS makeover. Can't wait to see everyone on August 14! 💙

Golf season is upon us. We have not been able to have our usual early practices due to the weather for the last week. We are going to attempt to have optional practices at Lockhaven this Wednesday, 4:30 to 6:00, and Thursday, 4:30-6:30. Wednesday will be driving range, chipping, and putting, and Thursday we will play the course. Obviously, these will also be weather dependent. These are optional this week so if you can't come, that is okay, and it is open to all high schoolers who are interested. We will start official practices the week of August 11th. If you did not play last year and are interested this year, please have a parent email me, amanker@brussels42.net, with their contact information so we can add them to the group text, remind, and chat.
The GOOD STUFF…🥰
You probably won’t find many funeral directors and their dads out hanging siding on the funeral home—but in a small town, that’s exactly what happens.
This is the beauty of small-town life: when something needs to be done, people show up, roll up their sleeves, and get it done—no titles, no fuss, just heart.
Great job, Riley and Joe! Your hands-on dedication reminds us what it means to truly care for your community. 💙
Happy Friday to ALL!

Hello Brussels Families!
If your student plans to play a junior high or high school sport at Calhoun during the 25/26 school year, parent meetings for the Extra-Curricular Code are scheduled at Calhoun High school, in the AV Room on the following dates:
July 29 @ 6pm
Aug. 11 @ 6pm
You must attend one of these sessions. If you have questions, please reach out to Pam Long.

The GOOD STUFF… 🥰
The beauty of working in a small school district is this: everyone pitches in to make the magic happen. 🪄
Our amazing local painting crew (huge shoutout to Denny, Wayne, and crew!) is giving the high school a beautiful facelift. Meanwhile, little ones, teachers, staff, and custodians are teaming up to move furniture—big smiles, little muscles, and lots of teamwork. 🌟
Then, when you need it, the Nolte family rolls in with a truck to help haul the big stuff, and you spot familiar, friendly faces at lunch. This is what community looks like. This is the good stuff. 💙

GRADUATION SEASON!
Friday marked another year in the books at Brussels CUSD 42. This year we graduated five kindergarten students, seven eighth grade students and eight senior students. Each year as the school year closes I wonder where it went. It seems like yesterday was just August and now we are closing the book on another year. Congratulations to the classes of 2025! We are blessed to have mentored and taught you. We can't wait to see what's in store for you! Congratulations!

Junior High went on their end of the year field trip to Altitude Trampoline Park. These students are ready to JUMP into summer!

K-6 enjoyed an end of the year trip to Grant's Farm. Two of own very own students even got to act as a race track for rats during the show!

These plants need a good home. Just a friendly reminder that our plant sale is this Saturday (tomorrow) inside Brussels High School from 9 am to noon. Here is a link to our plant list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YIkuKiJBmStlDe_SmnTzW-_-MKHEXAAr0963KWk8QXo/edit?gid=0#gid=0

The Brussels High School kids took over the STL Zoo today for their annual end of the year field trip. They enjoyed seeing several animals including the new baby elephant. So much fun was packed into the day. What a way to end the year. Now it’s time to prepare for final exams!

PROM NIGHT IS HERE! My heart is so happy for them. I am so incredibly excited for these kids. They look so nice! Congrats to Abby Johnes and Ryan Hagen, our Queen and King.

SPRINGFEST 2025!
We opened Springfest this year with our first annual Senior honors celebration. Each senior was asked about their accomplishments in high school, the best part of BHS, what their plans are after BHS and also whether they had any words of wisdom for the underclassmen. They had some pretty meaningful advice. Seniors were then presented with awards created by the teachers. Class of 2025 Honors were: Olivia Brodbeck - Humanitarian/Global Changemaker, Taylor Carey - The Contemplative Scholar, Kevin Garcia - Biggest Personality, Ryan Hagen - Most Ambitious, Abby Johnes - Highest Achiever - Excellence in English/Literature, Matthew Kiel - Most Strategic Scholar, Paige Pohlman - Most Artistic, and Caydence Sievers - Academic Breakthrough. We are so proud of you, Class of 2025. Dream big and make it happen!

Build My Future STL
