Today, Art Expressions was blessed with the wonderful Susan Surgeon who brought the world of English piecing to the students. Not only did she share the history of English piecing, she brought in patterns and material for the students to practice and put together their own English piece and shared a couple of her very own hand sewn quilts. As we begin to wrap up our quilting unit, we are so appreciative of Mrs. Surgeon for coming in to show us another way to quilt.

Brussels Grade School will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week on October 28th-November 1st!

Dr. Bitner and the Brussels PTO are teaming together to host a "Paint the Playground" event! This event is for ADULTS ONLY! For more information or to volunteer, please contact the office at 618-883-2131.

Congratulations to our October Grade School Students of the Month!!

Explosive things were happening on the playground today! The 5th & 6th graders showcased their homemade volcanoes on our basketball court. Some volcanoes had big explosions, and some had small spurts, so it taught our students about the different chemical reactions with different ingredients.

Here is October's Lunch Menu!

We recognized our only Senior, Caden Hayn, at our golf match tonight at Lockhaven. Caden is one of our top players on the boys team, and we were glad he could play with us for our first official year as a golf team. He always as an upbeat attitude and strives really hard to improve his golf game. If you see Caden, be sure to congratulate him on a great season of golf. Caden will go on to do great things, but we will definitely miss him next year!

If you are anyone you know is interested, please contact Dr. Bitner.

The Art Expressions class at Brussels High School stitched their way through their first unit on hand sewing. With donated material from several contributors, they were able to hand sew pillows, pumpkin decorations, and bags. All 6 girls, Abby Johnes, Leila Schulte, Audrina Pohlman, Summer Schneider, Sha’Nia Burries, and Mady Nolte did a wonderful job on their projects and learned several different types of stitches. Now on to machine sewing and quilting with project pictures to come.

Last week, the Brussels High School Boys Golf Team competed in the first ever Pike County Conference Golf Tournament at Lock Haven. The teams who competed consisted of Brussels, Pittsfield, Western, Payson, and Griggsville. As the conclusion of the tournament, Pittsfield took home the championship title scoring a 315 for the day on 18 holes and the following made 1st team all-conference: Isaac McGlauchlen (Pittsfield), Brody Tomhave (Pittsfield), Colby Hayesn (Pittsfield), Zeke Castleberry (Pittsfield), Alex Peters (Western), and Garrett Woodward (Griggsville). Overall, the boys enjoyed themselves and the competition. Congratulations to all schools involved!!
