GOLF ANYONE?! Brussels High School is proud to announce the formation of our first ever golf program. The program will begin in September and run through October of 2023 as a club sport. In 2024, we will transition into a competitive sport by registering with IHSA and participating in competitions and postseason play. Our home course will be located at the Lockhaven Golf Club in Godfrey, Illinois, which is approximately 40 minutes from Brussels High School. Participants will not only learn the ins and outs of golf, they will develop and improve their skills, have access to simulators, be able to schedule tee times as a team, participate in competition play, and build confidence and teamwork skills. If you are interested in golf, please check your email and complete the survey that was sent out by Mrs. Hartle.

THIS MAKES MY HEART SMILE! The class of 2023 is certainly a one-of-a-kind group. This morning most of them gathered at the park at 5:30 a.m. to watch the sunrise together. What a special time for them together. I really love this group.

Congratulations to these fine folks! We are so fortunate to have such fantastic students! We are so proud of you! Olivia Brodbeck (April) - Student of the Month - Olivia is perfectly unique. She not only works hard on her academics, but also works very hard to help her family on their farm, as well as participating in the CEC programs each year. She embraces her way of life and her beliefs and doesn't let peer pressure sway her. She was also a wonderful addition to the scholastic bowl team this year and was confident about buzzing in with answers. Her involvement in Girl Scouts has made her a great role model and leader in the community. She is truly a hard worker and an amazing student. Alyssa Bonner (May) - Student of the Month - Alyssa has worked really hard in her dental assisting course this year and, as her proctor, I've gotten nothing but positive feedback from her course leader. She has represented Brussels well for us with an outside learning entity. Alyssa has the wherewithal to pursue a course that she will definitely be using as she graduates from BHS. She already has an interview for a job utilizing this course and she's very excited about it! Junior Raider (April) - Anna comes to class each day and gives me great effort. In a class that has a lot of peer pressure in it, she tries her best not to give in and does her own thing. Junior Raider (May) - Gage Kiel - Gage excels in the classroom and is always a leader in his behavior. He never changes his work ethic even when his peers are not making the best choices. He will go against the grain and continue to show superb actions. Raider Recognition (April) - Delani K;aas - Delani helped out the Civics club by making flyers for an event. Raider Recognition(May) - Kate Schleeper - Kate reran the pacer with a friend to motivate them.

Another reminder that the plant sale is this Saturday from 8 am to 11 am. Just a heads up that there was a typo on the flyers posted around for the time. It is NOT until 11 pm. Some plants are more limited than others so be that early bird that catches the worm!

Attention 2023-24 Players and Parents! There will be an informational meeting Thursday May 11th 6:30 pm at the KC Hall in Hardin for all students interested in playing football for the 2023 season. This meeting is for all current 8th graders, freshman, sophomores and juniors from any school in our county! At this meeting we will discuss the summer activities, go over the schedule and talk about expectations for the summer. We encourage any and all parents that would like to receive the information directly to come. We also want to encourage any student that is thinking about playing but is unsure to come to the meeting. This is a great time to ask questions based on the concerns your family may have about the sport and our program. We will be bringing in some of our equipment to help alleviate any concerns over just how safe your son will be while playing. Our Coaching Staff looks forward to all 2023 football players in the same building for the first time this year! Go Warriors!

Today a group of juniors and seniors got to go to the Build My Future STL at the Family Arena in St. Charles. This construction career and industry showcase event includes hands-on exhibits and virtual reality simulations in architecture, construction, bricklaying, heavy equipment, tile laying, welding, plumbing, HVAC and much more! Our students got the opportunity to talk to people within the trade and technical fields and then try out their skills. It was a great event!!
