Kids night out forms and money are due by this Friday, December 1!

Early Bird PE students are working off their Thanksgiving goodies and working on strength training.

Kids night out will be December 15 this year! This is a night open to K-6 students in the county. We can't wait to have the kids for a fun filled evening. Forms and money need to be in by December 1!

Our BHS Pep Club kids worked hard on the tree for Christmas Wonderland at Rocksprings Park in Alton. If you can't tell, this year's theme they chose is Willy Wonka. We are tree number 5 this year so take a drive through the park and vote on our tree. Also, if you only get one ballot, you can ask them to give you one per person that is in your vehicle. This Monday, November 27th, is the only night you can walk through it on foot. There are no cars on that night. The park is open until late December so get out and enjoy a nice holiday treat.

3rd and 4th Grade Students read "Balloons Over Broadway" and studied the history and science behind the Macy's Day Thanksgiving Day Parade. They created their own balloon floats and paraded through the other classrooms!

Today we wrapped up our community presentations for our BHS Seniors with a visit from BHS graduate Logan Jacobs. Logan is currently enrolled in the graduate program at Maryville University in Occupational Therapy. She presented some wonderful information on professionalism and how to "show up" for interviews and create a lasting impression. She even showed our students how to create a personal website to send to potential employers. We are so proud to have her back to share her information with our current students! Thank you, Logan!

TUTORING IS CANCELLED for November 21 due to the holiday. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Our Career Planning Unit continues today with a presentation by former BHS graduate, Faith (Maag) Ebersohl. She did some practice interview questions with our students, putting them on the spot for a job. Thank you, Faith, for preparing our students for life after BHS!

BHS seniors are continuing our Career Planning Unit. Today's speaker came to us online, a definite sign of careers of the future. Mrs. Rachel Benz, a Dean of Students at Pikeland Unit 10 school district, provided our seniors with some great information on HOW to answer the dreaded question, "Tell me about yourself", which is in EVERY interview. Using key prompts to tell a story about oneself is a great way to introduce a person's personality, goals, and accomplishments to a prospective employer. Prompts include: Where I was, what I saw, what I did, what happened, and where I am going. Using these prompts helped students organize and practice their responses and help to jumpstart the interview in the right direction. The kids loved her information and her passion for helping students. Thank you, Mrs. Benz!

5/6 grade held a poster contest to celebrate "World Kindness Day".
Kinsley Plummer and Maggie Tepen tied for 1st place.

Our BHS Seniors have begun our career planning unit in Consumer Education. Part of this unit is learning to write application essays, write resume and cover letters, and learn interview techniques and skills. In order to better prepare the students for life after high school, community members are invited to present information to the class. Today, we had the honor of learning from Brandon Nolte, a BHS graduate, and successful businessman, currently working for Instacart in marketing and advertising. He gave the students a lot of useful information on networking, reading a room, and how to present oneself to potential employers. Thank you, Brandon for your time and information to help our BHS Seniors!

The Brussels CUSD 42 Board of Education is conducting a search for a new
superintendent. The selection of a new superintendent/principal is probably the most
important decision a board of education has to make; therefore, the Board has hired the
Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist in this process.
The Board of Education is seeking everyone’s input in the search process. The Board
requests that all board members, all staff, all parents and community members complete
an online survey provided by the IASB. The results will be tallied and used by the Board
and Screening Team to develop a brochure to advertise the position. All survey responses
and comments will remain anonymous.
The survey can be accessed at at this link (copy and past this into a browser): https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/V8PQB8T
The survey deadline is: November 19, 2023.
Thank you for taking time to complete the survey.

HOCO 2023 Day 3 @ BHS
Rhyme without reason day. These things rhyme with each other but don't make a bit of sense.

There has been a big miscommunication about the time of the Homecoming Parade. It is taking place at 6:00 pm on Thursday October 19th due to the earlier sunset time. Sorry about the confusion!
